Fire Rune-keepers: Skill Rotations and Trait Set Ups

Here is the first post this week to kick off Week of the Rune-keeper!

Enjoy!

Note: if you have trouble seeing the graphics (as I had to resize them), here is the original post.

Technical Junk:

Where are the graphics from? (Xaxius)
The graphics are property of Turbine. The font is called Narkisim.

With this iteration I decided to go with a kind of dwarf theme. With dark backgrounds and light text, it creates a nice contrast to display the information. I hope you enjoy it.

Fire Skills used in a damage rotation:

There are additional skills that aid fire damage.

Calming Verse can be traited to increase damage.
Armour of Flame can be used if you have a fire affinity stone.
Fall to Flame can be used if you have a fire affinity stone for damage that will apply when fire damage is directed at the target.
Weapon of Flame can be used if you have a fire affinity stone to buff any classes weapon near you to proc a fire resistance debuff on the target.

Fire spec Runekeeper trait options:

In order of most useful
(more opinion than fact – everyone chooses their own traits for their own reasons)

VOCAB

Recipe Formulae: The skills used in this rotation in a graphical format.

Rating System: This was a loose rating system. I wanted a fun factor for each build to compare them in another way than just plain dps. The dps calculations are not set in concrete. DPS will vary according to gear and traits. This was my outcome after some boring testing. Because these ratings are loose they go from 1 – 3, no .5 or in depth explanations will follow. I’ve done plenty of those posts. Low 1 – 3 High.

mobility – This is calculated according to the skills used in rotation. Quicker casting skills gain points while slow casting/stand still often skills decrease this rating. Mobility also factors in the ability to use skills that are not fire damage like casting a Rune of restoration. Rotations that rely heavily on stacking have little time to participate in side tasks.

dps – This was calculated using my gear and rotations that follow. But you don’t have any with one rating – that’s because I play a Runekeeper, we always start at 2/3 damage. Seriously, the reason is that my dps was very similar so it would be unfair to drop any to a one rating that were comparable.

variety – More skills used and more stacking involved. This is just a rating of the interest of the rotation. Using 2 skills is more interesting than using one for example.

power efficiency – This was calculated using my gear and skill traits.

Rotation 1:

Rotation Basics:

TraitsTale of RageConflagration of RunesLinnod of SubtletyOverflowing Confidence- Writ of Blazing FireLinnod of PeaceHarsh Debate

Spam Fiery Ridicule. Use Mystifying Flame to keep aggro down. Stack Writ of Fire but don’t use Essence of Flame. On any downtime spam Ceaseless Argument until you get the Harsh Debate buff then return to spamming Fiery Ridicule with your fancy new buff and refresh your other skills with the improved damage. Be aware of the duration of the 10 second fire buff for 15% and don’t lose it while using Ceaseless Argument.

Perks of this Rotation:

Mobility, dps, and power efficiency – what is not to love here. The only lacking rating is in variety of fire skills cast but you may make that up by amusing yourself changing to support skills.
Mobility during Ceaseless Argument spam is helpful for body positioning changes such as adds.
Instant cast Calming Verse.
Attunement does not need to stay high during this rotation allowing for a chance to toss out Prelude to Hope.
This rotation is also beneficial in places where you must use The blade will not wound and/or The fang will not poison or may be expected to jump into healing if the healer is having trouble keeping up.

Rotation 2:

Rotation Basics:

TraitsTale of RageConflagration of RunesLinnod of SubtletyWrit of Blazing FireLinnod of PeaceMaster of AllusionOverflowing Confidence

Use Mystifying Flame to keep aggro down. Stack Writ of Fire to 3 then use Essence of Flame. You want to make certain that you get Fiery Ridicule spam going directly after you place Essence of Flame to get some dots ticking with 3 dots going before Essence of Flame expires.

Perks of this Rotation:

You can use a Rune of restoration anytime you like.
Instant cast Calming Verse.
Attunement does not need to stay high during this rotation allowing for a chance to toss out Prelude to Hope possibly.
This rotation is only mildly beneficial in places where you must use The blade will not wound and/or The fang will not poison or may be expected to jump into healing if the healer is having trouble keeping up.

Rotation 3:

Rotation Basics:

Traits - Tale of RageConflagration of RunesLinnod of SubtletyScathing RetortLinnod of PeaceMaster of AllusionOverflowing Confidence

Use Mystifying Flame to keep aggro down. Whenever Smouldering Wrath is up – use a Writ of Fire then Smouldering Wrath to be certain that you don’t lose the 10 second 15% dmg fire buff during your 8 second channel. Spam Fiery Ridicule in between skill casts.

Perks of this Rotation:

You can use a Rune of restoration anytime you like.
Instant cast Calming Verse.
This rotation is a bit of a middle ground. You have some dps and some power preservation and mobility and variety but are not much more proficient at one than the others.
This rotation is only mildly beneficial in places where you must use The blade will not wound and/or The fang will not poison or may be expected to jump into healing if the healer is having trouble keeping up.

Rotation 4:

Rotation Basics:

Use Mystifying Flame to keep aggro down. Stack Writ of Fire to 3 then use Essence of Flame. You want to make certain that you get Fiery Ridicule spam going directly after you place Essence of Flame to get some dots ticking with 3 dots going before Essence of Flame expires. Whenever Smouldering Wrath is up – use a Writ of Fire then Smouldering Wrath to be certain that you don’t lose the 10 second 15% dmg fire buff during your 8 second channel. You should be watching your timers on Self Motivation and power potions tightly as you will need them.

Perks of this Rotation:

You can use a Rune of restoration anytime you like.
Instant cast Calming Verse.
This rotation is exciting for those that enjoy casting skills near back to back. You will also have to watch some timers. It’s also fun to watch Smouldering Wrath tick with all your dots ticking too. For 8 seconds you are quite astounding dps.
This rotation is not beneficial in places where you must use The blade will not wound and/or The fang will not poison or may be expected to jump into healing if the healer is having trouble keeping up.

Rotation 5:

Rotation Basics:

TraitsTale of RageConflagration of RunesLinnod of SubtletyLinnod of PeaceMaster of AllusionOverflowing ConfidenceWrit of Blazing Fire

For extra effects use Shocking Words if multi-target attacking for a chance at a stun on one mob. You should be watching your timers on Self Motivation and power potions tightly as you will need them.

Perks of this Rotation:

You can use a Rune of restoration anytime you like.
Instant cast Calming Verse.
Variety is high here, lots of action. This is also one of the only rotations listed that does AOE dmg.
This rotation is only mildly beneficial in places where you must use The blade will not wound and/or The fang will not poison or may be expected to jump into healing if the healer is having trouble keeping up.

Rotation 6:

Rotation Basics:

TraitsTale of RageConflagration of RunesScathing RetortMaster of AllusionOverflowing ConfidenceWrit of Blazing FireLinnod of Subtlety

Use Mystifying Flame to keep aggro down. Whenever Smouldering Wrath is up – use a Writ of Fire then Smouldering Wrath to be certain that you don’t lose the 10 second 15% dmg fire buff during your 8 second channel. For extra damage toss in Essence of Storm as this skill has a high crit and dmg compared to other lightning skills and you are not lightning spec. You should be watching your timers on Self Motivation and power potions tightly as you will need them.

Perks of this Rotation:

This rotation is for the busy bee. You will stay constantly casting and monitoring your timers.
It’s also fun to watch Smouldering Wrath tick with all your dots ticking too.
For 8 seconds you are quite astounding dps – let others rely on Epic Conclusion – you have cornered the DOT market.
AOE damage is included in this rotation.
This is a beneficial rotation when grouped with a captain or loremaster both of which can improve your power.
This rotation is not beneficial in places where you must use The blade will not wound and/or The fang will not poison or may be expected to jump into healing if the healer is having trouble keeping up.
